Mets Daily Offseason Update 11/18/17

Former Met Logan Verrett signed with the Korean baseball club NC Dinos Friday. Verrett was drafted by the Mets in the third round of the 2011 draft. After spending time with the Rangers organization for a season, Verrett returned to the team that drafted him in 2015. Verrett pitched with a record of 5-8 and a 4.52 ERA in two seasons with the Mets.

The independent league club New Britain Bees hired Wally Backman, the former manager of the Triple-A Las Vegas 51s. Backman assumed his position as the 51s skipper in 2013, and was awarded the Pacific Coast League Manager of the Year award in 2014. In 2016, Backman resigned as manager.

Arizona Fall League action concluded Saturday as the Peoria Javelinas won the championship game over the Mesa Solar Sox, with Braves prospect Ronald Acuna winning the Arizona Fall League MVP award for his efforts this autumn. The 19-year old hit for a slash line of .325/.414/.639 with 7 home runs and 16 RBIs. Acuna is the 5th ranked prospect in baseball according to MLB.com’s Prospect Watch.
