The Mets are beginning negotiations with the Tigers for a trade which could bring Ian Kinsler to the Mets, according to Jon Morosi. Kinsler will turn 36 next season and will earn $10 million next year. Kinsler is coming off of a down year where he hit for a slash line of .236/.313/.412 with a wRC+ of 91. However, Kinsler could bring some great interior infield defense that the Mets have been lacking last season, as he held a .983% fielding percentage and a 7.5 UZR rating at second in 2017.
The Mets have added four prospects to their 40-man roster just before the deadline for setting 40-man rosters across the majors. This group is headlined by Luis Guillorme, who is ranked as the 11th best prospect in the Mets farm system and played fantastically in the Arizona Fall League this year. The other prospects are Corey Oswalt, Gerson Bautista, and right-handed pitcher Tyler Bashlor.
