2017 offseason

Mets Daily Offseason Update 11/21/17

In news from the Braves, former GM John Coppolella has been permanently banned from MLB for illegally negotiating with international free agents. Among the sanctions the league gave out, the Braves will also lose 12 international prospects, including top prospect Kevin Maitan, who signed with the organization for $4.25 million in 2016.

The Mets released their 2018 Spring Training schedule on Monday. Play will begin sooner than in recent years with the Mets facing the Braves on February 23rd.

The Baseball Writers Association of America released the ballot for next year’s Hall of Fame class. Former Mets that have qualified for this year’s ballot include Johan Santana, Jason Isringhausen, Gary Sheffield, Jeff Kent, and Livian Hernandez, with everyone but Kent and Sheffield spending their first year on the ballot.
