In an offseason that has been uneventful so far, the first big move this winter has come in the form of a trade. The Marlins traded Dee Gordon to the Mariners today for prospects Robert Dugger, Nick Neidert, and Christopher Torres along with $1 million in international slot money. The Marlins have made it clear this offseason that they are willing to trade away their top players, those of which including Dee Gordon. With Robinson Cano and Jean Segura playing in the middle infield already, a club source from the Mariners announced Dee Gordon will play in center field. Gordon has never played in center field in an official major league game in his career. Gordon was great at the plate in 2017, hitting for a slash line of .308/.341/.375. However, Gordon’s best skill comes in the form of his blistering speed. Gordon tallied a league-high 60 steals in 2017.
The official lineup for the Queens Baseball Convention has been announced Tuesday. Outfielder Brandon Nimmo and rookie pitcher Chris Flexen will be headlining the event, along with former Met Todd Hundley. The event will be held on January 20, 2018 at Katch Astoria.
