2018 spring training

Mets Spring Training Pre-Game Report – 2/26/18

The Mets will take on the Houston Astros today at 1:05pm in Grapefruit League action, after coming off of a 10-3 drubbing of the Marlins on Sunday, which included a second inning moonshot coming off the bat of Yoenis Cespedes.

Noah Syndergaard will get his first action of spring training, hoping to rebound from missing a majority of the 2017 season nursing a lat tear. He will start against Justin Verlander in today’s matchup.

In free agency news, the Mets have signed right-handed pitcher A.J. Griffin to a minor-league contract. The 24-year old came off of a dreadful season with the Rangers, pitching for an ERA of 5.94 and a FIP of 6.26 while giving up 20 home runs in just 15 starts. Anthony DiComo reports that A.J. Griffin will report to the Mets’ spring training camp in Port St. Lucie shortly.
