Mets Spring Training Pre-Game Report – 3/19/18

The Mets face the Houston Astros at 1:10pm today. The Mets defeated the Orioles on Sunday, 5-4. Noah Syndergaard had another strong outing, allowing only one run and striking out five batters in seven innings pitched. Travis d’Arnaud got two hits in four at-bats, including hitting a two-run home run in the second inning off Dylan Bundy.

Jason Vargas will be undergoing surgery on a Tuesday for a fractured bone in his right hand, reported by Anthony DiComo. Vargas will be able to throw five days after the surgery.

Steven Matz takes the hill against Justin Verlander today. Matz gave up two runs and three hits in 4.1 innings pitched in his last start on Wednesday.
