2018 Season

Mets Pre-Game Report – 4/8/18

The red hot Mets hope to complete the sweep against the Nationals, as they face off tonight at 8:05pm.

Yesterday afternoon, the Mets relied on another strong performance by their bullpen to outlast the Nationals, 3-2. Steven Matz was also able to rebound from a sloppy season debut and pitch five innings without allowing an earned run.

Matt Harvey will start tonight against Tanner Roark (1-0, 1.29 ERA). In his last start, Harvey struck out five and pitched five shutout innings.

Outside of today’s game, it is being reported that Jason Vargas’s simulated game went well, and will start a minor league game before returning to the major leagues. Vargas has been nursing a broken right hand since March 16th, which doesn’t impede his pitching but prevents him from fielding regularly.
