2018 Season

Mets Pre-Game Report – 4/9/18

The red-hot Mets hope to continue their five-game winning streak as they play a very despondent Miami Marlins squad tonight at 7:10pm.

The Mets won a 12-inning marathon against the Nationals on Sunday night. The game remained at a 5-5 deadlock since the eighth inning until the Mets were able to break loose and spoil yet another Brandon Kintzler relief appearance in the top of the 12th inning. Jacob Rhame was able to shut the door for his first career save.

Zack Wheeler will be making his first ML start of this season on Wednesday, meaning this will be the first time the Mets will run a fully healthy rotation of Syndergaard, deGrom, Harvey, Matz, and Wheeler. Wheeler commanded the mound in his start in Triple-A Las Vegas on Friday, allowing just one run in five innings pitched while striking out six batters.

Noah Syndergaard will get the start tonight against Marlins Opening Day starter Jose Urena (0-1, 4.91 ERA). Syndergaard hopes to have a less stressful start tonight, given he nearly reached the century mark in pitches despite throwing four innings in his last start last Wednesday against the Phillies.
